Lake Bohinj, another stunning glacial lake in the local area around Bled

Our Bled holiday apartment is conveniently located near to the bus station, or other bus stops. Regular buses travel between Bled and Bohinj on a daily basis in both winter and summer. If you don’t bring your own car, you can easily hire/rent a car from one of the car hire/rental offices in Bled centre.

As well as Lake Bled and its surroundings, you can also travel to the nearby Lake Bohinj (just a 30 minute drive away), another stunning glacial lake situated in a dead end valley framed by the mighty Julian Alps, and backed by Mount Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia. If you are feeling fit and adventurous, you can hike to the mountain peak and, as the saying goes in Slovenia, become a true Slovene. Your hard work will be rewarded with an outstanding panoramic view of the South-eastern European Alps.

In winter the Bled and Bohinj region is a perfect place for skiing and snowboarding, with several superb ski resorts such as Kobla in Bohinjska Bistrica, and the magnificent Vogel ski resort overlooking Lake Bohinj and Mount Triglav. Skiing here is like skiing in a magical winter wonderland.

Slovenia is roughly the size of Wales, and the advantage to this is that everything is just a day drive away. Firstly, if you are flying into Ljubljana Joze Pucnik airport in Brnik, then Bled is just a 20-minute drive away. Slovenia’s capital city, Ljubljana, is just a 30 minute drive, bus or train ride away. The Slovenian coast is just 1½ hours away by car. Or you can take the more scenic route over the fabulous Vrsic mountain pass through the Julian Alps, down into the wild and dramatic Soca Valley, where the almost New Zealand-like scenery attracted filmmakers to film scenes from the epic movie, the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the Chronicles of Narnia.

Lake Bohinj is fed by Savica waterfall, which is the source of the mighty Sava River which runs all the way south to Belgrade.

So with Slovenia’s small size, but incredible diversity, you’ve no need to move around from one holiday apartment to another holiday apartment, constantly changing accommodation every few days. You can just book in to our beautiful lakeside apartment for the entire duration of your stay, and see everything you need.
